We are calling on the Minister for Education and Skills, Joe McHugh, TD, to continue his support for Irish as a core leaving certificate subject and to develop a comprehensive Policy for Irish in the Education System from Pre-School to Third Level within 6 months. A consultation process should be undertaken immediately to develop the policy and, as was done with the development of the Gaeltacht Education Policy, the consultation should include submissions from the public, public meetings, stakeholder meetings, etc.

Táimid ag éileamh ar an Aire Oideachais agus Scileanna, Joe McHugh, TD, seasamh go leanúnach leis an nGaeilge mar chroí-ábhar ardteiste agus Polasaí cuimsitheach don Ghaeilge sa Chóras Oideachais ón Réamhscoil go dtí an Tríú Leibhéal a fhorbairt laistigh de 6 mhí. Ba chóir próiseas comhairliúcháin a chur ar bun láithreach bonn leis an bpolasaí a fhorbairt agus, ar nós a rinneadh le forbairt an Pholasaí Oideachais Gaeltachta, ba chóir go gcuirfí aighneachtaí ón bpobal, cruinnithe poiblí, cruinnithe le geallsealbhóirí agus eile san áireamh sa chomhairliúchán.

12,172 Ciara Ní Shúilleabháin Is cuid dár gcultúr agus dár n-oidhreact í an Ghaelainn. I mo thuairim, tá sé tábhachtach Gaelainn a choiméad mar theanga beo, mar is teanga oifigiúil í don Aontas Eorpach! Tugann an t-ábhar deis do dhaoine óga an cultúr a bhlaiseadh. É sin ráite, caithfimid an Ghaelainn a spreagadh i measc na ndaoine óga.
